In November 1981, the Presbytery of the Cascades called the Rev. Thomas G. Nelson to be the organizing pastor of the Tualatin-Wilsonville New Church Development. The first worship service was held January 6, 1982 in the living room of Rick and Barb Crall. The service was attended by 45 people. Worship services soon moved to the Tualatin VFW Hall. Later that year the church school and office moved into an adjacent office building.

Land (3.14 acres) was purchased in the spring of 1983 at Siletz Street and Boone’s Ferry road for $120,000. During summers the land was used for outdoor worship services and picnics while members dreamed of constructing a church building on the site.

By March 1984 there were fifty-five members. Programs were flourishing: choirs formed, Mariners fellowship groups expanded, retreats were planned, and Bible studies and community service projects developed. The Presbytery formally chartered Tualatin Presbyterian Church as an organized congregation in February 1985. The Rev. Thomas G. Nelson continued as pastor. By 1986 the church had moved to the Historic Community Church at 10100 SW Boone’s Ferry Road. The building, built by Methodists in 1926, had been a clothing store and required massive remodeling and clean up.

Church construction on the Siletz and Boone’s Ferry Road property began in 1987. Members conducted a building campaign and secured loans from the General Assembly and Synod of the Pacific. The new sanctuary was dedicated on March 6, 1988. It was a time for tears of great joy… a celebration of our past and of our hope for the future.

Continued growth of the congregation brought the need for more space. In 2002 a remodel of the sanctuary and narthex and an addition of the two floors housing the kitchen, church office, rest rooms and downstairs classrooms brought the building into the configuration you see today. The Rev Dick Wiggers was designated interim pastor to succeed the Rev. Thomas G. Nelson in 2002. The Rev. Ken Evers-Hood was called to serve as pastor in September 2004.

The Rev. Dr. Ken Hood left to pursue a career in counseling in December 2022.

The Rev. Dr. Ken Henry was called as Interim Pastor in March 2023.

On October 27, 2024 The Rev. Lisa Marie Robechek was called to serve as Pastor of Tualatin Presbyterian Church.

Today Tualatin Presbyterian Church has increased to about 300 members and continues to grow.
