Christian Education
Our Sunday morning Bible program is an intergenerational experience, not a traditional classroom. Using the Godly Play Lectionary approach, children gather around a symbolic “campfire” where Bible stories are shared by an elder in ways that invite wonder, curiosity, and reflection. Stories are connected to historical context, present-day life, and current events so children can see how scripture continues to shape our lives today.
Experiential Family Ministries
Our ministry is built on experiential learning where children and youth (ages 5 through college) learn alongside one another. Older youth naturally mentor and support younger children, and all participants grow into leadership over time. This creates a strong, Christ-centered community where learning happens through relationship and shared experience.
Worship Participation
Children and youth are active participants in worship throughout the year. They read scripture weekly and take leading roles in:
- Advent candle lighting
- Palm Sunday processional
- Easter morning worship
- Youth Sunday (full youth-led service)
- Liturgy Leaders
- Our annual Nativity play
Mission & Service
Service is central to our faith formation. Children and youth regularly participate in hands-on mission experiences including preparing meals for local shelters, supporting the Good Neighbor Center, volunteering with Family Promise, assisting the Rolling Hills Food Bank, and participating in seasonal giving projects such as the Giving Tree and winter clothing drives.
Camps & Community Programs
We offer year-round programs that build community and welcome children from both the church and surrounding area, including children with special needs:
- Christmas community activity days
- Spring Break drop-in programs and field trips
- Two weeks of summer camp with games, art, field trips, BBQ lunches, and intergenerational connection
Family Connections Gatherings
Children, youth, and returning college students serve as volunteers and mentors in all areas of ministry. These relationships help young people grow in faith, leadership, and service while building a lasting sense of belonging.
Community & Leadership Growth
We gather quarterly after Sunday worship for BBQ or pizza lunches with parents, children, and leaders. These gatherings provide time to check in on spiritual life, children’s experiences, and church community, while strengthening relationships in a busy world.
